Publisher of Family Games Buys Creators of Robot Hitler
It has recently been announced that ZeniMax Media, publishers of harmless frolic filled family games such as AMF! Bowling Pinbusters Wii and AMF! Bowling Pinbusters DS, have bought the notorious id software studios. Having rose to prominence in the early 90s for creating a slew of appallingly violent and tasteless games for the PC. Games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D were often in the headlines for their violent content, gore and satanic imagery. Now this mild mannered and unassuming publisher sees fit to purchase this awful company; ultimately does this mean that games involving Nazis and chainsawing people up the jacksie could be coming to your child’s Wii or DS?
The founders of Bethesda Softworks created ZeniMax in 1999, since then the company has published many of Bethesda’s biggest games. The latest being the grubby Fallout 3, which sees you fighting the apocalypse with a dog. During its decade lifespan ZeniMax has gone from strength to strength, allowing it to build the financial muscle to pick up many sought after properties.

The acquisition of id software will allow them to publish the ominously awaited and probably appalling Doom 4. Leaving one to wonder what new atrocities could be added to the latest instalment with all that current technology has to offer. Doom 4 is currently slated for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3; currently there is no news as to whether or not it will worm its way onto the Wii or DS. However it is not entirely out of the question as Doom was previously released for a Nintendo family console back in 1997.
Just when you thought there was a console you could safely leave your kids with for hours unattended, a deal like this happens! Meaning that a harmful game might possibly perhaps be finding it’s way into your children’s hands… after they go to the shops to purchase it… having saved up the relatively large amount of money a new game costs… and created an elaborate disguise to look over eighteen.
